KRÜ Closed the Door. Sentinels Miss Champions for the First Time Since 2023.

KRÜ Esports swept Sentinels 2-0 in the Play-Ins Lower Round 2, ending the season and, barring a miracle on points, sending Sentinels to their first year without an international appearance since 2023.

It's over. KRÜ beat Sentinels 2-0 on Saturday in the Play-Ins Lower Round 2, and that's the season. Beat 2Game Esports two days earlier to survive, then lost to the team that had already given them their worst loss of Stage 2 group play. Same opponent, same result, except this time there's no next round.

The Part That Actually Stings

I watched the VOD reactions instead of the broadcast, and even secondhand through streamer chat, the shape of the loss was obvious. Sentinels kept clawing rounds back, tying it up, looking like they'd found the version of themselves that used to close these out. Then a missed read here, a bad peek there, and KRÜ just kept answering. It wasn't a blowout. It was a team that had the tools to win and couldn't put together enough clean rounds in a row to actually do it. That's been the story of this entire stretch, not just this match.

Say the Quiet Part

2026 is going to be the first full season since 2023 that Sentinels aren't at an international event. Not Masters, not Champions, nothing. I've written four articles now watching this exact skid unfold in real time, from the ENVY loss that dropped them to the lower bracket to the must-win stretch that actually held for exactly one round. The lower final everyone was bracing for never came. It just ended one round short.

Where I Land

I said cortezia and johnqt being good wasn't the question anymore, that the real question was whether this roster could win when it mattered. KRÜ just answered that for me, twice this stage. I'm done extending credit on talent alone. Whatever comes next for this org, it starts with admitting the roster as built couldn't get it done, not with another close loss to point to as a moral win.
