Marved Is Back on Sentinels. He Just Beat Cloud9 With It.
johnqt's emergency appendectomy pulled him out of Sentinels' Stage 2 opener, so Marved stepped in cold and beat Cloud9 2-1.
The Iceman thawed out for one night and it worked.
johnqt had an emergency appendectomy this week. Sentinels confirmed it themselves: he's recovering, but he's out for at least the next few matchweeks of Americas Stage 2. That's not a bench call, that's a body forcing a roster decision nobody wanted to make. So Sentinels went and got Marved, back for his first real tier-1 run since he left the starting lineup he shared with TenZ in 2023.
The Numbers Actually Held Up
I went in expecting rust. His last competitive appearance was filling in for Chet's Pets in an NA tier-2 event, and that team lost to both Ambrosia and TSM. Not exactly a form check. Instead he dropped a 175 ACS with a 41/45/32 line and 80.3% KAST across the win over Cloud9, 2-1 on Summit, Haven, and Lotus. That's not a guy coasting on name recognition. That's a real performance.
What He's Not Replacing
johnqt wasn't just Sentinels' shot caller, he was their top fragger most nights this season. Marved can hold his own with a rifle, but he's a controller player by background, and nobody expects him to run the exact playbook johnqt did. He doesn't have to. He just has to keep the seat warm and not lose winnable games, and against Cloud9, he did more than that.
Real Test Still Coming
Loud is next, then 100 Thieves, the reigning EWC champions and a team Sentinels have history with either way. That's the series that tells you if this was a good week or a good roster. For now, the Iceman's back in the building, and he showed up ready.
