Masters London Day 4: DRG and FULL SENSE Go Home, GE and XLG Survive
Two regional rematches, two reverse sweeps, two eliminations — day four of Masters London was exactly what you wanted.
Day four of Masters London was all regional beef. XLG ran it back against DRG in a replay of the China Stage 1 lower bracket final. GE got a rematch against FULL SENSE after losing to them in the Pacific Stage 1 upper bracket final. Both series went three maps. Both ended with a reverse sweep. Two teams are going home.
XLG 2-1 DRG
DRG came out and absolutely smashed map one. vo0kashu on Cypher dropped 337 ACS and they closed it 13-4. Looked like they had things under control. Then XLG took Fracture 13-9 and pushed it to Split.
Split was close. DRG pushed hard but XLG took it 13-11. Happywei finished the series with a +24 differential, Rarga had 12 first kills, and that was it for DRG. vo0kashu was brilliant the whole series but winning one map isn't enough when you're in an elimination match.
These two just keep meeting in high-stakes situations. XLG won 3-1 in the China Stage 1 lower bracket final. Now they've done it again. DRG can't catch a break when it matters most.
GE 2-1 FULL SENSE
This one was the more interesting series. GE lost their own map pick of Split after blowing a 4-0 lead, with primmie going absolutely nuclear for FS. 335 ACS, 7 first kills, +16 differential. FS took it 13-9.
Then GE flipped it on Breeze, which was actually a map they'd already beaten PRX on to qualify for London. UdoTan put up 305 ACS and GE leveled the series 13-8.
Pearl was where it got dramatic. GE built a 10-2 lead and it looked done. primmie dragged FS back into it round by round and for a minute it felt like a historic comeback was actually happening. Then Kr1stal hit a massive spraydown to shut the door when FS were four rounds away from OT. GE closed 13-8 and FULL SENSE are eliminated.
Kr1stal finished 242 ACS, +20, 6 first kills across three maps. For FS, primmie's individual run here was legitimately one of the best performances from a player on a losing side I've seen at a Masters. 299 ACS and +34 for the series. The rest of the team just didn't show up enough.
What's Next
The 1-1 bracket is set: GE vs XLG, and FUT vs NRG. Win and you're in playoffs. Lose and you're done.
GE vs XLG is the one I want to watch. Both teams clawed their way to 1-1 through adversity. GE was 4-8 down against Leviatán on day two before coming back. XLG just outlasted their biggest rivals.
FUT vs NRG is the other big one. NRG are the reigning world champs and they're still alive, but they got pushed to three maps by Leviatán already. FUT have s0pp, who has been one of the scariest players at this tournament. I wouldn't sleep on FUT at all.
Two more spots. Four teams. Tomorrow's going to be good.
