Breeze Is Finally Out of Rotation and I'm Not Going to Pretend I'll Miss It

Patch 13.04 swaps Breeze for Abyss with zero agent or weapon changes attached, and the map pool trade is the whole story.

Josh

Patch 13.04 dropped this week and Act 5 with it, and the only line that matters is this: Breeze is out of Competitive and Deathmatch, Abyss is in. No agent buffs, no nerfs, not a single weapon touched. Riot just made the trade and walked away.

Good Riddance to Breeze

I never hated Breeze so much as I got tired of it. Every duel on that map turns into a long-range staring contest, and if your comp doesn't have an Operator or a Sova to win those sightlines, you're not playing the round so much as waiting for someone else's mistake. It's a map built for a handful of specific comps and it punished everyone else for queuing into it. I'm not sad to see it rotate out, even temporarily.

Abyss Brings the Chaos Back

Abyss is the opposite problem in the best way. Bottomless pits on basically every angle, verticality that actually matters instead of being decorative, and rotations that force you to commit through open ground instead of hugging a wall the whole way. It rewards aggression over patience, which is exactly what Breeze punished. Coming back into the pool after time off, it's going to eat a lot of ranked lobbies alive for the first week or two while people relearn the timings.

The Fixes Nobody Asked For, But Needed

Cypher's spycam had its minimap icon rotated wrong, which sounds small until you've made a read off a fake angle. Viper's Snake Bite equip animation was showing up incorrectly from the enemy's POV too, a straight-up information leak. Both fixed. Riot also patched the bug breaking transforming melees like Kuronami 2.0 and Nocturnum mid-inspect, which is a nice detail if you paid for one of those skins.

Small patch on paper. The map pool swap is doing all the heavy lifting.
